Our Window Cleaner of the Month for May

Mariusz Olszewski

Mariusz Olszewski has been a window cleaning specialist for almost 25 years. Born in Poland, he spent the first eight years of his professional life in Great Britain. It was while employed there that he first became acquainted with UNGER tools – more precisely, with a window cleaning kit consisting of a window squeegee, washer, bucket, scraper and telescopic pole.

Even after returning to his native Poland and founding his own cleaning company, Clean Lodz, Mariusz remained loyal to UNGER tools. The unbeatable quality and functionality of traditional cleaning equipment is what counts when Mariusz and his team are working for their customers from 5 in the morning until 6 in the evening during the peak season. The professional is increasingly working with UNGER’s pure water cleaning system and is aiming for a 50:50 ratio between traditional window cleaning and cleaning with pure water next year.

“For me, UNGER is synonymous with the highest quality!”

I like being a commercial cleaner because …

... the work is very varied and I enjoy the independence of being the owner of my own business.

You can tell someone is a cleaning professional by …

...the fact that they think for themselves and have a sense of aesthetics.

My favourite UNGER product is …

... none in particular, I like them all. All UNGER cleaning equipment is characterised by outstanding quality and maximum functionality. What’s more, they are also super ergonomic.

An UNGER product was what saved me when …

... last year I cleaned the glass ceilings at the University of Lodz with my company. It was difficult to get to the surfaces, which is why it hadn’t been done for a long time. So there was a lot to do and we decided in favour of the UNGER Stingray system, which has already proven its worth in a number of other demanding applications – for example, cleaning the glass railings in the IKEA restaurant in Lodz. It also did a great job at the university.

One of my most unusual cleaning jobs was …

... the Old Billingsgate in London in 2004. The events venue is located directly on the River Thames between London Bridge and Tower Bridge. There are a lot of glass surfaces inside and in the basement. The outside windows are very high and partially covered by a wall. What made things even more difficult was the climate inside and outside, I remember that well. Luckily, I had already been in the job for a few years at the time, so I didn’t find the challenge difficult but rather enjoyed it a lot. Many other interesting cleaning jobs followed, but I will never forget Old Billingsgate.

I have always wanted to tell UNGER …

... that for me UNGER is synonymous with the highest quality. And that has always been the case. The best proof of this is that I still use one of the first cleaning tools from UNGER that was available on the market.
